Well, we are on the run for Oregon now. This Grand Adventure is winding down and we are both ready to see the barn. Tonight we are in Laramie, Wy. It’s sunny and very warm. For the past several days we have planned our route around the weather map. So far, we are batting 1,000. We managed to spend all day yesterday without seeing a single Interstate. A whole day… Continue reading
It’s been a couple of days of getting things done more than lots of riding. After our 555 mi. ride, we were back in Springfield to meet Via’s Kansas City Cousins (see photo at left) and get my bike worked on on Saturday. The servicing turned into an all day affair. I had my Spyder in at 9:45 am and managed to get it out of hock about 4:30 pm… Continue reading
Boy, have we been remiss on keeping our friends and family up to date. Guess we’ll just have to chalk it up to being too busy having fun and too tired to write about it. We arrived in Raleigh, NC on Wed. afternoon May 14 at my sister Dellaine’s house. I ride from SpyderFest to Raleigh every year for a brief visit with her and to go with her to… Continue reading
OK, once again it’s been a few days since we have checked in. We left Chicago about 10:30 am on Monday. Clear skies and very pleasant. Getting out of Chicago can be a chore with Via giving me directions from her GPS thru her headset. That sounds easy until you factor in mucho road construction, one way streets and a GPS that takes sadistic pleasure in giving very complicated reroutes… Continue reading
It’s been a couple of days since we checked in.
Left Lincoln, MO. under a warm and beautiful sky and headed for Chicago. Our 3 or 4 days there will be a busy time with family and friends. Our first stop in the “Windy City” was to the home of friends from Mexico who spend 6 months in Puerto Vallarta and 6 in Chicago. As it turned out… Continue reading
I got my Spyder finished with farkles yesterday, Tuesday. We left Springfield this morning about 9:00am under warm sunny skies. By the time we reached Rolla, Mo., It began to sprinkle and showered for about an hour. Our first rain of the whole trip except when we were under cover in Springfield. Pretty amazing going 21 days at this time of year with only one brief shower!
I love… Continue reading
HORAAH, it’s finished!!!
SpyderFest 2014 came to an end this evening. All in all it was a pretty good show. I didn’t sell out but my shipment home is MUCH lighter. We will stay here in Springfield until Wed. morning. I am having my old (very nice adjustable) handle bars put on my new Spyder. It’s quite a project and will take a large chunk of Tuesday. Wednesday we will… Continue reading
It’s been a few days since I’ve checked in!
SpyderFest is in full swing, today is Friday and the Rally will end tomorrow evening. It’s been very busy with a great attendance. Being inside this year has been a great help. Last year it was outside in COLD, WINDY RAINY weather. I lost two easy-up tents to the wind. Not this year. Lots of vendors and the energy has been… Continue reading
Missed yesterday – Combining day 9 with 10.
Our first day in Springfield. SpyderFest is still a few days away but the Spyders are rolling in to meet and greet each other and try to get some work done on their bikes before the mad rush and chaos of the Rally. My biggest news is that I became the proud owner of a 2014 Spyder. My 2011 was pretty well… Continue reading
Day eight, about 2,600 miles and we finally pulled into Springfield, Mo. around 3:00 pm. We have run from the bad weather for two days and arrived to a beautiful Spring day and almost 80 degrees. The weather, by and large, has been amazing for the entire trip from Oregon to Springfield, Mo. We’ve been chilly some mornings but I don’t think we saw a single rain drop… Continue reading
